Top quality artisan oud door candles, crafted with lots of care and attention in a local workshop here in The Hague, by people with a distance to the regular labour market. Lovely people, with heart for their craft, that pour these out door candles with the utmost care.
These outdoor candles are made from recycled dinner candles, that either broke during production in the workshop of are turned in by the users of the candles. Because a number of users (mainly restaurants) collect the last bits of their candles and turn them in at the sheltered workshop.
And there the are melted again. This melt is not good enough to turn into new dinner candles, but for out door candles it is more than all right.
Extra special about these outdoor candles is that they are made in a two step proces. First the outer ring is made and once that is dried out completely, the middle of the candle is poured. By setting them up in this way, the outer candle will not melt while in the full sunshine. And it makes the candle burn until the end.
The large one is large enough to last you all summer.
The smaller one is not that small and will last you through spring.
They are usually in ivory white, but once in a while there are some in colours. (When I have dropped a whole box of candles in my store (and yes, it happens, sometimes). These coloured ones I call limited editions and you can find them somewhere else in this webshop.
For the best use of your candle, burn it al least for 1 hour when you light it for the first time. Clip the wick regularly. And you can cut down the outer ring with a knife while it is still lukewarm if you so wish.
