Old statue of a lady mounted on a wooden console, cast iron, newly put in stove polish, France, around 1880

This is a little figurine but at the same time it was also part of a 3D-catalogue 'avant la lettre'. We think we are very innovative, with our 3D-printers. But this family that cast this little figurine, more than 100 years ago, understood the value of 3D samples long before us.
Because this lady was part of the 3D-catalogue of a foundry. There were numerous of these kind of figurines, all different. And then the customer could choose which figurine he wanted to front his hearth-irons.
Unfortunately the foundry closed and all the figurines are being sold. And that is where I picked up this one. If you look at the back, you can see that there is room for an 'attachment' on the back. Those were the irons that were put in the fire to hold the logs.
She has been put in stove polish again and mounted on a wooden block. She will serve you well as bookend, a presse papier or just a nice trinket in your bookcase.
