Painting of horses in a stable with a poor lame dog in front, oil on linnen, some repairs and damage in the linnen, Holland, around 1930

My guess is that is is a male dog, lying in front of the stable door in this painting. They way he shows his bandaged paw to the horse and her foal, full pathos, reminds me a bit of a man down with the man flue. He is just t.e.r.r.i.b.l.y wounded, you see.
It is an old painting, not painted by one of the grand masters but by a gifted amateur. The painting has had a rough life. There are chips in places and there is even een old tear on top.
But all that is taken into account while setting the price and it is still a very funny painting, well painted.
