Christmas tree from an old roof pinnacle, weathered wood, French Ardennes, around 1900

This is one of my best finds of the year. Antique Christmas trees from the French Ardennen. No, of course they are not Christmas trees. These are old and antique roof pinnacles from timbered houses. But they are from the French Ardennen. The houses or roofs that they were once part of are no longer but these pine trees were saved. Even coldhearted contractors realised that these were rather special and they were saved from the skip.
This is the smallest one and the most thin one. Stunning patina and weathering on the front, mounted on a black steel foot. ( ooooh , so very hip). I think it was once a bit thicker, I think it was cut in two and the best part was glued to a new oak back. The back is very very smooth actually.
But it is a cutie
